Kickboxing is an easy type of martial art to learn. Kickboxing as a sport is not only great to watch, but also gives the participant an opportunity to increase strength, flexibility, confidence and a chance to learn an extremely effective form of self defence. Kickboxing has been around for many years and in more recent times is now a worldwide recognized sport with 100’s of schools and clubs in the UK alone. There are many kickboxing gyms and kickboxing schools, some train full time professional fighters and others schools in sport centres and halls for the everyday person. Kickboxing is not an expensive sport to learn, uniforms are usually included in the membership prices and a full set of protective equipment will cost less than the new pair of trainers that everybody buys when they join a gym. An ideal starting point for a person that would like to try out kickboxing would be to have a look at your local leisure centre. These types of kickboxing clubs will often have a good mix of people, with beginners and advanced students training together. They will also have to be a reputable club to be able to run classes in a public sports centre as they will be required by law to have full insurance, CRB checks and hold first aid certificates. Kickboxing can to some extent be learnt at home as well. The amount information available over the internet is vast, many books and DVD’s can also be purchased. However, this should be no substitute, rather an expansion of your training in a real life kickboxing club with other people along with the great atmosphere a kickboxing class creates. www.midlandspkakickboxing.com
